Opening sentence
When I saw my first grand skink on a Central Otago hillside, something changed.
A fascinating insight into the world of Aotearoa's lizards - geckos and skinks. While often thought of as slimy and disgusting, especially when dragged inside by the cats, these lizards are remarkable. There are many, many different kinds of skinks and geckos that call New Zealand home, and they all play an important role in the ecosystem of NZ's bush and rock pools. Accompanied by a range of stunning photographs, students are able to learn about the different kids of lizards found in Aotearoa, their habitats and their likes/dislikes. This could also work as an amazing art project, capturing the beautiful patterns that cover the backs of skinks and lizards, as well as looking into how animals camouflage themselves.

This non-fiction book would work well as a reference book that was accessible to older students studying NZ fauna.
