Julia Crouth
Born in Auckland, Julia Crouth is an author and illustrator of children’s books. Her illustrations are realistic and depend on both watercolours and gouache for depth and detail. She has worked as an illustrator for the School Journal, educational readers and trade picture books. Crouth has collaborated on several picture books with the writer Dawn McMillan, and has written and illustrated her own titles, including After Dark: Creatures of the New Zealand Forest.

Crouth, Julia (1976 –) is an author and illustrator of children’s books.
Crouth was born and raised in Auckland. She completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Institute of Technology in Auckland in 1998. Since 1998 Crouth has worked as an illustrator for the School Journal, educational readers and trade picture books.
Her first picture book Sea Secrets was written by Dawn McMillan and published in 1998. Crouth also worked with McMillan on Ride a White Horse (2001) and A Fishing Story (2002). My Marine, written by Phyllis Johnstone was published in 2001.
Crouth’s illustrations are realistic in style and depend on both watercolours and gouache for depth and detail.
Her publications include the following readers: Sarah’s Pet (2000), Animal Biscuits (2002), The Picnic Boat (2001), Coco’s Bell (2001), Roller-Coaster Ride (2001), The Fishing Trip (2001), Fun and Games (2001), A Choice for Sarah (2001), Charlie’s Great Race (2001).
The Frog Search was written and illustrated by Julia Crouth and published in 2002.
