Ben Galbraith is a writer and illustrator of children’s books. He gained a Bachelor of Design in Wellington and now works as a graphic designer for a surfboard company in his hometown, Gisborne. Galbraith’s first book, The Three Fishing Brothers Gruff, was a finalist in the Picture Book category of the 2007 New Zealand Post Book Awards for Children and Young Adults, and won the Best First Book Award. He has also illustrated Every Second Friday, by Kiri Lightfoot.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Galbraith, Ben (1980 - ) is a writer and illustrator of children’s books. He received a Bachelor of Design Degree in Wellington, and now works as a graphic designer for a surfboard company in his hometown, Gisborne.

Galbraith designed his first book, The Three Fishing Brothers Gruff, while in his final year at Massey University. Reviewing The Three Fishing Brothers Gruff in the New Zealand Herald, Jenni Keestra said: ‘Galbraith has written a witty and intelligent text that will delight children and adults.’

The Three Fishing Brothers Gruff was nominated as a finalist in the Picture Book category in the 2007 New Zealand Post Book Awards for Children and Young Adults, where it won the Best First Book. It was also highly commended at the 2006 Best Design Awards, and listed as a 2007 Storylines Notable Picture Book. In 2007, Galbraith won the Russell Clark Award for Best Illustrated Book at the LIANZA Children's Book Awards.

Ben Galbraith illustrated the picture book, Every Second Friday, written by Kiri Lightfoot and published by Hodder UK in 2008. The work was listed as a 2009 Storylines Notable Picture Book.

Fandango Stew, written by David Davis (USA) and illustrated by Ben Galbraith, was published by Sterling New York in 2011. Ben currently lives in Australia.
