Holly Gooch is a poet, storyteller, and picture book author. She has performed her writing in a range of settings, and teaches creative writing to young people. Gooch has written several books for early readers that form part of the 21q12Word Detective21q12 series by Gilt Edge Publishing, including Market Music and The Real Mrs Hooper. She has received awards for her writing and she is available for Writers in Schools visits.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Gooch, Holly is a poet, storyteller, picture book writer, and artist. As a storyteller she has performed in schools, libraries and at festivals, and she often makes use of props, visual aids, movement and music in her performances. She also takes a young writers class at the Cannons Creek Library in Porirua, and before becoming a full-time writer in 2009 she worked as a secondary school teacher.

Gooch’s books are for early readers and form part of the 'Word Detective' series published by Gilt Edge Publishing. They include Market Music (2010), Grace’s Neighbors (2010) and The Real Mrs Hooper (2010).

Holly Gooch was Highly Commended in the AUT NZ Creative Writing Competition 2009-2010 in the Song Lyric Category. Her poem ‘Café creatures’ was selected as one of the winning poems in the Eat Your Words café poetry competition in 2010, judged by award-winning New Zealand poet Jenny Bornholdt.
