ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Lingard, Vivienne (1947 - ) is an illustrator, writer and teacher.

Vivienne Lingard grew up in the Hutt Valley. She lived and worked in Japan and Hong Kong before returning to New Zealand. Lingard has an extensive background in art, ranging from graphics through to exhibiting fine art in dealer galleries. She is a member of Storylines and KiwiWrite4Kidz.

Lingard is a illustrator for children’s books. She illustrated The Lacquered Box (Reed, 2004) written by Don Long, Weaving Together written by Dawn McMillan (Reed, 2005) and The Special Treasure written by Tere Ngawai Gilbert for Learning Media. She has also illustrated many children's readers for Numberworks and Words.

Lingard has just completed a non-fiction book Saving Our Seas by Maria Gill, published by New Holland in 2009. The work was listed as a 2010 Storylines Notable Non-Fiction Book. Eco Agents by Maria Gill was also published in 2009..

Vivienne Lingard is currently living in Auckland where she works in a home-based studio as an illustrator and writer. She teaches 'Introduction to Children's Book Illustration' at Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts in Pakuranga.
