Craig Marriner
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Marriner, Craig (1974 - ) is a novelist. He was born and raised in Rotorua. After leaving school in the seventh form, Marriner went to Australia. Three years later he returned to New Zealand, travelled for a year, and then left to travel in Europe, Turkey, and Morocco. He lists gold mining, soccer stadium security, MC at a comedy club, and haggling in Istanbul as past employment.
His first novel Stonedogs (2001) won the Deutz Medal for Fiction and the New Zealand Society of Authors Hubert Church Best First Book Award for Fiction at the 2002 Montana New Zealand Book Awards.
In 2003, literary agent Michael Gifkins sold the film rights to Stonedogs to a prominent Australian production company, Mushroom Pictures.
The Sargeson Trust and national law firm Buddle Findlay awarded novelists Karyn Hay and Craig Marriner Buddle Findlay Sargeson Fellowships in 2004.
Marriner's second novel, Southern Style, was released in 2006.
