For there was Hugh just as cute as before BUT WAIT...BUT WAIT...BUT WAIT... there was more!
This easy to read chapter book is written by a New Zealand author who lives in Auckland. The stunning, colourful cover of Lulu La Ru will certainly grab the reader's attention. Well done Amanda Sutcliffe!

Lulu La Ru is beautiful, with 'Barbie-like' looks and figure. She goes from being a single 'modern-day princess' to a full-time step-mum to two little girls.

The book is written in rhyming text. How hard would that have been? Very difficult - I bet!

Bold and coloured text in different fonts are just what any young reader wants, and the cute illustrations throughout the book make you sit back and have a second look.

Taking on the role as a step-mother, Lulu La Ru faces many challenges as she copes with all the new aspects of parenthood. Every chapter brings humour to different situations. I think it would make a great read aloud for a girl's group. Lulu/Gina (author) wanted to change the perception of step-mums (not a broom-stick to be seen!) so reinvented the word S.T.E.P to stand for Super Terrific Extra Parent! I'm sure many kids would love to have Lulu as their Extra Parent!

The book is really all about what Lulu goes through, with very little about the children, and hardly anything about the Dad, Hugh. Does he help out at all? Maybe they will get more recognition in future books - as this is volume one...
