Opening sentence
A quick mum, an ace mum, A nothing out of place mum.
I loved the concept of a book whereby you look at each picture to find each mum described in the text.

I did find the descriptive words a little confusing - what would an 'ace' mum or a 'square' mum look like, and some would consider 'square' a derogatory term?  Because of these colloquialisms, when I read about a 'sweet' mum I thought I was looking for a trendy, cool mum, but it transpired to be a mum wearing candy cane earrings and giving her baby a lolly.  Similarly, I thought a 'choice' mum was one who was excellent, fantastic or awesome, but it was actually a mum giving her daughter a choice of two pieces of fruit. Younger children will require explanations regarding many of the descriptions - 'mentor', 'chic' and 'has a looming deadline' may not be familiar to younger children.

Each sentence lists about three different types of mums, but littlies are likely to want to start finding each mum as they are mentioned, so there are likely to be constant interruptions to the flow of the text.

A diverse range of mums is illustrated: including mums of different ages, one looked so young I originally thought she was a sibling, from several different cultures, with different coloured skin, of various shapes and sizes and wearing different styles of clothes.

This book is more suited to sharing as a family rather than a large group classroom situation, as it would work best if all the children can see the pictures and point to the pages.
