Opening sentence
Kia piki te ora!
The hauora journal takes young ākonga on a journey of mindfulness and gratitude, it allows them to explore and connect to their hauora through a Te Ao Māori lens and gives them a chance to explore their own identity.

Throughout there are simple instructions displayed on beautifully illustrated pages on how to use this journal. The pages within are easy to follow, they expose readers to kupu Māori and provide a space to colour and reflect on aspects of Te Whare Tapa Whā. The aim of this journal is to have a space to express whakawhetai and to have an open dialogue with others about our mental health. Some activities include exploring our whakapapa and sense of belonging, teaching you effective breathing exercises and getting you to plan activities with your whānau and friends such as getting outside to throw a ball around. Throughout, you have the opportunity to be inspired by whakataukī, and the chance to expand on your kupu Māori and knowledge, all while taking care of your hauora.

This ideally would be for younger ākonga but can be used for different purposes within a high school setting. For example, it can be adapted into a PE and Health programme exploring aspects of wellbeing including taha tinana. It can be used in an English classroom for writing prompts in order to help form connections and develop whanaungatanga. It can be used in Te Reo Māori classrooms as well to help expand students' understanding of aspects like Matariki.
