Opening sentence
Could I ask of you kind canines, if you could find the cure, to return my body back to normal, back from stone for sure.
This adventurous rhyming tale follows three courageous canines on their quest to help the Stone Giant. They embark on a journey to retrieve the antidote which will reverse the stone curse. Dragons, merciless seas and angry fish are just some of the obstacles faced by the furry friends.

Young readers, aged 5-10 years, will enjoy this heroic story. The sprinkling of fantasy elements, such as a magical rope and flying tuatara, make this a fun and uplifting read. With 25 pages, each filled with colourful and captivating illustrations and comic-style font, this would make a fantastic read-aloud at bedtime.

Beau and the Stone Giant is the second children’s book by NZ author, Hydie Balle-Hands. She has based the story on three real-life dogs whose photos feature at the end of the book alongside a resource page which highlights three wellness organisations that have helped her on her journey. A portion of proceeds from the book go to the I AM Hope Foundation.
