Kua tino hari, kua tino koa a Pāpā. Ka pērā hoki a Miti!
He ātaahua te pukapuka 'He rite a Miti ki a Pāpā' ka whakanuia te hononga kei waenga i te pāpā me te tama. He rite a Miti ki a Pāpā me āna mahi katoa. Ina ka heru a Pāpā i ōna makawe, ka pērā hoki a Miti. Ina ka whakatā a Pāpā, ka pērā hoki a Miti. Ina ka hāparangi a Pāpā, ka pērā hoki a Miti. He pakiwaitara whakakata, pukuhohe hoki.
He miramira, he mumura ngā whakaahua o tēnei pukapuka. Mā ngā pikitia, he māmā noa iho te whai māramatanga ki te kōrero. He pepamārō ngā whārangi katoa o te pukapuka nei, he mea autaia tēnei: he ārikarika ngā pukapuka pēnei i te reo Māori. Kāore e kore, ka pārekareka tēnei pukapuka ki ngā nohinohi.
I pānui ahau i tēnei pukapuka ki tāku tama, e toru ōna tau, ā, i tino rata ia. He pai ki a ahau te kite i tētahi pukapuka e whakanui ana i te hononga o te pāpā me te tama; me te whakatau raruraru i te katakata. Me whakanui tēnei pukapuka ka tika!
'He rite a Miti ki a Pāpā' is a beautiful book celebrating the relationship between a father and son. Everything Pāpā does, Miti does too. When Pāpā brushes his hair, so does Miti. When Pāpā rests, so does Miti. When Pāpā yells, so does Miti. This story is playful and humorous.
The illustrations that support this book are bright and bold. The illustrations make it very easy to understand this story. This book is in boardbook format, which is rare for books in te reo Māori. This book will be very appealing to pre-schoolers.
I read this book to my three year old son and he loved it. In particular, I was happy to see a book celebrating a father and son relationship; and showing how conflict can be resolved with laughter. We need more books like this!
