Opening sentence
Little Witch couldn’t wait for the full moon to rise, when witches on broomsticks would take to the skies.
The story is exactly as described in the title. With each new page the little witch is offerred alternative travel arrangements, as she can’t find her broom. Each of the options prove to be disastrous for different reasons. Finally at the end she finds her broom, but the keen-eyed reader can find it hidden on every page. Children will love the challenge of searching for it and towards the end of the book, the author encourages “Come on, Reader, you know what to do. Tell her where it is... It’s right behind you.”
The language is rhythmic and sing-song and there is plenty of detail in the written and pictorial content for children to discuss with parent or teacher. It would work well one-to-one or as a class book and expect plenty of participation and volume!
