Prepare to embark on a thrilling time-slip adventure alongside step-siblings Felix and Zoe. Anna Ciddor's A Message Through Time transports readers to Ancient Rome.

The story follows Felix and Zoe, who stumble upon a mysterious message in a bottle and find themselves suddenly transported back in time by 1700 years.

One of the book's strengths is its ability to bring history to life, vividly portraying the stark contrast between the perspectives of modern-day teenagers and the realities of Ancient Gaul. Ciddor does an excellent job of presenting the perspectives of lesser-known voices like women, slaves, and the lower classes, thus providing a well-rounded view of the Roman Empire beyond Rome and Italy.

The author's dedication to historical accuracy also offers readers a glimpse into the rich tapestry of languages, cultures, and experiences that shaped the ancient world, making it both an exciting adventure and an educational tool that sparks curiosity about different historical periods.

Felix and Zoe's character development is well-crafted, endearing them to readers. When they accidentally bring a Roman girl back to the present, chaos ensues; adding excitement and challenges to the story. However, some readers may find the pacing too fast, and certain moments could benefit from more exploration to immerse them in the time-travel experience fully.

Overall, A Message Through Time is a captivating and informative read for young readers and history enthusiasts alike.
