Opening sentence
Tala's heart lept. Aunty Sina looked beautiful with shimmering skin and a tuiga of brown hair and pearly shells.
Tala wishes that she could dance the traditional Samoan dance, the taualuga, just like her Aunty Sina. Whenever she practices she is not as good as Aunty Sina. As Tala gets ready to perform at her Grandma's birthday, she freezes on the stage, but find strength from her family and ancestors.

This is a beautiful story about finding inner strength through the love and support of family. I liked that the book has a glossary to promote better understanding of Sāmoan language. Plenty of students who I read this book to could identify with the characters. The illustrations are detailed, bright and colourful.
