Opening sentence
Coney loved the roadworks, the queues of cars, the shouty drivers, even the flying stones.
When Coney the cone falls off the truck, he knocks his head and loses his memory.
What follows next is his journey to discover who he is. When he finds other lost cones they make a plan to get back on the truck that they love.
This story was a great read aloud. There are so many twists and turns as Coney and his friends try to make the truck stop each day. My class enjoyed creating other ideas for Coney and his friends to try.
The students also enjoyed using the text as a model for writing a story about an everyday object which has come to life and what challenges they might come across.
This is a fun read aloud that also provides an interesting writing prompt for students.
