In all of creation, no matter its name, nothing is ever exactly the same. So, take it from me, as I know this is true, you'll only be happy when you accept you.
Both of my children (4 & 5yrs) enjoyed having the story read aloud to them. They are both fascinated by animals and this book did not disappoint. The illustrations throughout the book are big, bold and bright, they captured their attention. They both loved searching through the pages to locate spotty amongst her herd. The message in this story is very clear throughout: that being different makes you unique and special. Being unique is something to cherish, not to hide from.

Having read this story several times to my kids, it was time to try it out in a classroom. I shared this story with a class of (year 5 & 6) students, who also enjoyed it and could relate well to the message. One of the things that made this book super exciting was looking at the amazing animal's coats fiction section at the back. It was cool to see real life photos of spotty and other amazing animals that were different from the norm. This book is one I am happy to share with more children in the future.
