Opening sentence
Luna thought that an afternoon at her aunt's butterfly club would be the most deathly boring thing in the world.
It is 1894, Luna, Konstantin and Aidan are three unlikely friends brought together by a secret society of time-travelling thieves called The Butterfly Club. Using the Time Train, they travel through time stealing artefacts from the future to help speed up progress. On their adventures they learn that small changes can have a big impact on history, or the future.
This book is the first in the series and sees the time travelers travel to the day that the RMS TITANTIC sets sail from South Hampton for New York. Their mission is to find Guglielmo Marconi and steal his invention: the wireless radio. Unaware about the destiny of this ship and the other people on board with their own missions, the three children try to find Mr. Marconi and his radio. Can the three friends complete their mission, and change the course of history?
An exciting read, moving through small periods of time leading up to the fateful sinking of the RMS TITANTIC. The three children explore different parts of the great ship that gives the reader a chance to understand life aboard the ship and what took place that day. It could be a good read aloud for a Year 5/6 class.
