The Truth About Dragons

This story follows a mother's bedtime storytelling where she takes her young son on a journey through two very different perspectives on the truth about dragons. The language is rich and the vocabulary extensive. Hanna Cha has illustrated with enchanting and vibrant pictures. The two perspectives are represented with different image styles, the first has borders complementing the illustrations that lean towards fairy tale imagery. The second has full page pictures that are more real-worldly, and readers may recognise the different cultures represented. Readers are taken on two equally magical and wondrous adventures sparking the imagination in the most colourful ways.

After sharing this with different class groups I feel the themes and concepts in this book lend itself to an older age of reader. This would work well as a read aloud for older children.
